No matter the season, NH weddings are always stunning. We are SO fortunate to live in an area with so much natural beauty and so much to see throughout the year. But the endless seasonal glory can make it a little tricky to plan a wedding because there are so many great options to choose from!

Today I’m sharing my thoughts on NH weddings in all of the seasons in terms of what you can expect from each, and how the different seasons will impact your wedding photos. If you are starting to plan a New Hampshire wedding, you’ll definitely want to bookmark this post!

NH Weddings in All Seasons

NH Winter Weddings

Winter is a beautiful time of year to get married! I feel like it’s often overlooked, which is too bad because you can plan a really cozy and romantic wedding during the winter months. I actually wrote a whole blog post recently on 5 reasons to elope in the winter, and the reasons apply to full-sized weddings, too!

Northern NH experiences snow much earlier than southern NH, so keep that in mind as you’re selecting your location + venue. If having a snowy wedding day is important to you then I recommend getting married in January or February to increase your odds!

This time of year the sun sets earlier, which means that most photographers will need to utilize flash for best lighting. If you opt to do a first look then there is typically an opportunity to get a lot of portraits done while there is still natural light.

My Personal Favorite: NH Spring Weddings

Spring is my personal favorite time of year in New Hampshire! And this goes for weddings too. Early spring can still be a little bare, but once May comes around you’ll start to notice blooms everywhere! May and June are the best months if you love fresh flowers, green grass and lots of sunshine. Wildflower-themed weddings are perfect in the spring.

The days become longer as spring moves towards summer, so this means that it’s typically very sunny until about 8pm! This allows for lots of opportunities for natural light photos, including golden hour and/or sunset portraits

NH Summer Weddings

Summer in New Hampshire is sunny, green, and warm! New Hampshire really shows off all summer long. This time of year is very bright, so keep this in mind when planning your portrait photos. A lot of my summer couples opt to do the majority of their newlywed portraits during golden hour for a more soft and romantic light.

With the warm weather, you also have lots of opportunities for outdoor weddings in the summer, so if incorporating the outdoors is important to you then the summer months might be for you!

NH Fall Weddings

Last but absolutely not least is fall. Fall is actually the most popular wedding season in New Hampshire, and for good reason! The light is beautiful all day long, our trees put on a spectacular show, and the crisp air is a relief after a long summer!

Weddings in the mountains, lakes region, on farms, and even by the seacoast are just stunning in the fall. Depending on where you are looking at venues, September and October are your best bets for foliage, though end-of-fall weddings in early November are very pretty too.
